Joe developed an interest in personal finance while serving on the faculty at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he taught economics and personal finance to cadets. Helping young adults understand financial decision-making sparked a passion for financial planning and ultimately led him to pursue the CFP® designation. He believes thoughtful planning can help families make better decisions, navigate important transitions, and pursue their long-term goals with greater confidence.
Joe joined Praetorian Guard in May 2010 after previously working with Dick Hewitt and Marc Wehmeyer at West Point. As a CFP® Professional, Joe provides comprehensive financial planning and wealth management services to individuals and families across the country. While he helps clients address a wide range of planning needs, he has particular expertise working with business owners and senior executives as they prepare for retirement, manage wealth accumulation, and evaluate major financial decisions.
Prior to joining Praetorian Guard, Joe served for 20 years in the United States Army as a field artillery officer and comptroller. He has a Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA in Finance from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. Joe has held the CFP® designation since 2004.
Joe and his wife, Jennifer, live in Leesburg, Virginia. They enjoy spending time with their two adult children, as well as golfing and traveling.
